Our Board of Directors

Eng.Nalin Thisera is a seasoned Professional Engineer with over 15 years of Post qualifying experience across the infrastructure, utility, and corporate sectors. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Honours) from the University of Peradeniya and is an Associate Member of the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka (AMIE (SL)).

Throughout his career, Eng. Thisera has established himself as an expert in procurement procedures and contract management, ensuring that large-scale industrial and civil projects are executed with technical precision and transparency. His diverse professional expertise includes; Infrastructure & Civil Works: Significant experience in the management of building constructions and highway development projects. Water and Utility Engineering: Specialized knowledge in Water Treatment and Water Supply Systems, Including extensive involvement in technical bid evaluations and project delivery.

Mrs. Rathnayake holds a Bsc (Business Administration) degree at Sri Jayawardanapura University and Master of Arts (Economic Development) at Colombo University and Master of Arts (Public Policy) degree at Australian National University. Currently she serves as the Additional Director General of the Department of Treasury Operation. During her eminent career she has held a number of key state positions starting from the Asst. Director of Department of Public Finance, Deputy Director of Department of Public Enterprises, Director of Department of Treasury Operations. She has also performed as the Acting General Manager of National Savings Bank & the Regional Development Bank and as the Chairperson of Agriculture & Agrarian Insurance Board. In addition, she has been representing the General Treasury

Mr. Y I M Silva is an accomplished public administrator currently serving as District Secretary of Puttalama since 2025. With over two decades of distinguished service, he has held several key positions including Assistant Divisional secretary, Divisional secretary, Director & Deputy Director of customs. He has further contributed as Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development and as Director (Administration) of the Government Factory Department.

He holds a BBMgt (HRM) and MA in Sociology from the University of Kelaniya., and an LLB (Hons) from the open university of Sri lanka. His professional development includes international training in Japan, china, Malaysia, Nepal, and India. He served as a Board member from 30.01.2025 to 24.10.2025.

Mr. Abeywickrama holds a Bachelor of Science (Business Administration) Sp. from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and a Master Degree in Public Management. He has completed the Diploma in Public Procurement and Contract Administration (SLIDA) in 2017. He has about 25 years of work experience in the Government sector. Currently serving as the District Secretary of the Ampara District and served as a Divisional Secretary for about 13 years and an Assistant Divisional Secretary for about 6 years in the Matara District. He has also served as an SLAS officer for about 25 years and has been promoted to the SLAS Special Grade since 2019.

Mr. Gunawardena joined LOLC in 2004 and counts over 36 years of experience as a Lawyer and a senior corporate personality. He has held a number of important positions in the state, including the office of state Counsel attach to the Attorney General’s Department, the office of Director – Legal & Enforcement of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka and the insurance Board of Sri Lanka and was involved in setting up the Consumer Affairs Authority as its first Director General.

He serves on the Boards of a number of local and overseas subsidiaries within the LOLC Group.

Dynamic corporate professional, Mr. Danesh Abeyrathne serves the LOLC Group as Director/Chief Executive Officer of LOLC Advanced Technologies, the Research and Innovation arm of the renowned LOLC Group. Also, the Executive Director of the Galoya Plantations (Pvt) Ltd and Browns Group. The young professional, with his proven track record in the fields of Engineering, Manufacturing, Plantation, Agriculture, Marketing, and Research and Development, is also serving on some noteworthy foreign boards Mr. Abeyrathne holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Engineering from the University of Ruhuna. He is a Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK), the Chartered Global Management Accountants (CGMA) (USA) and certified practicing Accountants of Australia (CPA), As well as he is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK) and the Institute of Engineers (SL).

Mr. Wasantha Batagoda is an Attorney at Law, counting more than 20 years of active practice in legal profession. He was admitted to Bar in 2003 and was in legal practice in Original courts and in Appellate Courts as well. He obtained Bachelor of Law (LL.B) with Second class honors from Faculty of Law, University of Colombo and obtained Master of Laws(LL.M) in Intellectual property Law from Faculty of law of University of Colombo. He joined LOLC Group in 2014 as an Assistant General Manager and currently works as Chief Legal Officer in LOLC Group. He is also a director in several subsidiaries of LOLC Group

Dr. Pradeep Uluwaduge counts over twenty years of experience in the field of Human Resource Management and Development, Legal, Corporate Affairs & Plantations, both in Sri Lanka and overseas.

He has completed his Bachelor of Laws degree (LL.B] with an honours pass from the Faculty of Law, master's in laws degree and earned his Ph.D. in Management and Business Studies from the Faculty of Management and Finance, all from the University of Colombo. Dr Uluwaduge took oaths as an Attorney at Law from the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka in 2003. He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management from the UK, and is a Fellow member of the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (FCMA,SL). Dr Uluwaduge, is a Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (FCMA], UK and a member of the Chartered Global Management Accountants (CGMA], USA.

He is a Certified Professional Coach (CPC] from the Australian Federal University. Dr Uluwaduge is a life member of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka and a Member of the prestigious Singapore Academy of Law as well as a professional member of the Singapore Human Resource Institute. He was awarded the Honorary Fellow Membership by the National Institute of Plantation Management (NIPM], Sri Lanka.

Dr Uluwaduge was awarded as the Best under 40 Business Leader award by the Alumni Association of the Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM] in 2016 and was a Council Member of the National Chamber of Commerce from 2017 to 2023. He is a visiting faculty member for the MBA program, University of Colombo and a visiting supervisor for M.phil /PhD Programme at the Business School, Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT].

Dr. Uluwaduge currently functions as the Executive Chairman of Browns Plantations, which has become the world's largest Tea Producer and Exporter with its new acquisitions in Sri Lanka and Overseas. He also functions as the Group Chief HR Officer and Group Chief Sustainability Officer overseeing Human Resource Management and Development and Sustainability functions of the entire Group, covering both local and foreign operations. Further, he serves on a number of boards of other subsidiaries of the LOLC Group including Browns Plantations Kenya Limited [a company incorporated in Scotland], Browns Plantations Tanzania Limited, Browns Plantations Rwanda Limited, Hapugastanna Plantations Plc., Udapussallawa Plantations Plc., Maturata Plantations Ltd, Pussellawa Plantations Limited, Browns Ari Resort Maldives etc. Dr. Uluwaduge was the world's first Plantation Company Chairman to receive the Climate Neutral Citizen Certification from the Control Union in the Netherlands.
